PNRR Digitization Project at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN)

Thirty thousand artifacts from the Museum’s storage facilities have been digitized.

An ambitious project is underway in the storage facilities of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN): the digitization of 30,000 artifacts — including bronzes, frescoes, terracottas, and mosaics — as part of Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Mida Digit is partnering with MANN on the digitization campaign as part of a temporary consortium with CNS (Consorzio Nazionale Servizi) and Rear.

Cutting-edge technologies for ultra-high-definition reproductions.

The digitization campaign relied on advanced technologies, including imaging systems capable of reaching resolutions of up to 4000 ppi (pixels per inch) and professional lighting systems. Together, these tools made it possible to produce images of the highest quality, capable of capturing the material qualities and fine details of the artifacts.

This marks a significant step forward in the enhancement and documentation of the heritage preserved in the MANN storage facilities, including previously undocumented works such as figurative terracottas. Digitization not only supports conservation efforts, but also opens up new opportunities for educational and scientific access to the collection.
