Founded in 1854 by Francesco V d’Austria-Este and housed since 1894 in its current location at the Palazzo dei Musei in Modena, the Galleria Estense comprises four large halls and sixteen exhibition rooms dedicated to the extensive collection assembled by the Dukes of Este, with origins dating back to the Este Duchy  in Ferrara.

The Gallerie Estensi asked us to digitize several important fonds held at the Biblioteca Estense Universitaria, including the Estense music fonds, the illuminated manuscripts fonds, and the Campori autograph collection.

We provided several planetary scanners to protect the originals and ensure the highest-quality digital reproductions.  One of the scanners features a 120-degree V-shaped cradle, allowing bound volumes to be digitized without being forced open.
