Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Milan

The Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana entrusted Mida Digit, in partnership with Metis Systems, to digitize Leonardo’s Codex Atlanticus following a long and highly rigorous selection process involving quality tests carried out by leading national and international companies.

Every stage of the project was handled with meticulous attention to detail, from precise procedures for handling the originals and image naming protocols to clear file archiving procedures, optimal scanner calibration, and the application of digital signatures to the images to verify their integrity over time.

The resulting images achieved an unprecedented level of quality, surpassing all existing reproductions and making it possible to produce enlargements and study details invisible to the naked eye.
